Victims ID’d in Wrong-Way Crash on 210 Freeway That Left 3 Dead, 2 Injured

Around 2 a.m. on Sunday in Rancho Cucamonga, a male driver was headed westbound on the eastbound lanes of the 210 freeway. The CHP received calls that a Hyundai Elantra was driving at a high acceleration and swerving in the carpool lane. He proceeded to collide with a silver sedan that carried four passengers.

The Hyundai Elantra driver was determined dead at the scene, in addition to two passengers of the sedan. The driver and front passenger of the sedan were taken to the hospital, where the driver was rushed into surgery and the passenger was able to recount the events of the accident to authorities.

The four people in the sedan were coming home from a family gathering when the crash took place. 38 year old Falguni Shan and 52 year old Veena Shah died in the crash. Meanwhile, Nitin Shah, 60, and Jyotsna Shah, 56, are continuing to recover.

The deceased Elantra driver was confirmed to be 28 year old Mack Jaramillo. The reasons as to why he was traveling in the opposite direction of traffic remains unknown.
