Airport Mechanic Dies After Being Sucked Into Boeing Engine

A tragic accident at Chabahar Konarak Airport in southern Iran has resulted in the death of a mechanic, Abolfazl Amiri, after he was sucked into the running engine of a Boeing commercial airliner.

The incident occurred while Amiri was performing routine maintenance on the tarmac. According to reports, he realized he had left a tool near one of the plane’s engines. When he attempted to retrieve it, he was pulled into the turbine.

The engine was running for a test with the cover flaps open when the accident happened. The force of the engine not only pulled Amiri in but also caused it to catch fire, resulting in his instantaneous death.

The aircraft involved was a Boeing 737-500, part of the fleet operated by Iranian domestic airline Varesh Airline. Following the incident, Iran’s aviation authority has launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances and any possible negligence that led to this fatality.

While this incident highlights the dangers faced by aviation mechanics, it also underscores the importance of workplace safety protocols and the potential legal ramifications when these protocols fail. In cases of wrongful death, especially involving high-risk occupations, the families of the deceased may be entitled to compensation for their loss.
