Female Bicyclist Dead, 1 in Critical Condition After Collision in Canoga Park Area

On Thursday afternoon, two cars and a bicyclist were involved in a fatal crash. This tragic accident took place a little before 4 p.m. in the 7100 block of North Shoup Avenue. As stated by Eric French of the Los Angeles Fire Department, this collision left a bicyclist dead, a driver in critical condition, and another evaluated to be not critical.

The bicyclist, a female in her 40s, was riding her biking on the sidewalk when struck by a car. The two vehicles involved crashed in the intersection of Shoup Avenue and Sherman Way, causing one of them to veer off of the street and onto the sidewalk, where the victim was fatally hit.

A witness to the crash and resident on the street expressed his grief and shock over the death of the bicyclist and the kindness she always displayed towards him.

The collision is not a hit-and-run, but the investigation remains ongoing to determine influencing factors in such a horrific accident.
