Teen Pedestrian Killed, Brother Injured In Possible NoHo Street Race

July 31, 2014

A 17 year old pedestrian was fatally hit, by a vehicle involved in a possible street race, while crossing the street with his brother.

At around 8:30 p.m. on July 30th, Milton Marquez, 17, and his brother Daniel Menjivar were walking home after an errand to the pharmacy when they were struck on the 7000 block of Whitsett Avenue.

The brothers were reported not to have been in a crosswalk.

Menjivar recalls that, “[The vehicle] took him…and dragged him all the way over there.” Marquez was pronounced dead at the scene, while Menjivar did not sustain any injuries.

The vehicle is depicted to be a black SUV with damage to the front end. It was reported to have last been seen going southbound onto the 170 freeway.
