Ryan Dunn, 34, rose to fame because of the reality series “Jackass”. He is a daredevil who committed various risky and life- challenging stunts for the Jackass and Viva La Bam crew together with his best friend Bam Margera and several other daredevil personalities in Hollywood. On June 20, 2011, he was killed in what was seen as a very devastating car crash. Their vehicle hit a tree and burst into flames in West Goshen, Pa. Dunn, together with another companion from the Jackass crew was pronounced dead by the Chester Country Coroner’s Office on Tuesday.
According to the Coroner’s office, the cause of death for both was “blunt and thermal trauma due to a motor vehicle accident” and that the deaths were listed as “accidental”. Prior to the accident, a photo of Dunn and his companion who was identified as Zachary Hartwell, was uploaded online. In the photo, they are seen holding cups of what were believed as alcoholic drinks. As per TMZ, one friend said that Dunn had 3 Miller Lites and 3 “girly shots” between 10:30 PM and 2:10 AM- nearly a 4 hour span, but he was “not too drunk to drive.”
The toxicology report revealed otherwise.
Although it was not known who was driving the vehicle, a toxicology report done revealed that Dunn’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was more than twice the legal driving limit in Pennsylvania. Initial results were also released by the police department which showed that Dunn’s vehicle traveled between 132-140 miles per hour in his Porsche when the accident happened. It was presumed that the two died on the impact of the vehicle as it jumped the guard rail, flew into a ravine and caught fire.
The toxicology results showed that alcohol was involved in Ryan Dunn’s death and says so much about drinking and driving. Similar accidents occur throughout America and do not only involve Hollywood stars but average Joes and Janes. Ryan Dunn’s death not only shocked the nation and his fans, but it also had various reactions as it was associated with driving under the influence of alcohol, which is a very serious matter.
