A young Pittsburgh Pirates fan, 20‑year‑old Kavan Markwood, fell approximately 21 feet from the outfield wall at PNC Park on April 30, suffering a series of life‑threatening injuries. The incident occurred during the seventh inning of a Pirates‑Cubs game when Markwood apparently celebrated a hit, stumbled over the railing, and plunged onto the warning track.
Surveillance footage and court documents reveal that 21‑year‑old attendee Ethan Kirkwood purchased multiple beers for Markwood—who was underage—and shared them during the game.
